§ 10-2. Enforcement of animal laws; animal control officer.

In accordance with Code of Virginia, § 3.2-6555, an animal control officer shall be appointed, and he shall have the power to enforce all state laws for the protection of domestic animals, all state comprehensive animal laws, and the provisions of this chapter. Nothing in this section shall be deemed to prevent the issuance of a warrant for any violation of this article based upon the complaint of any citizen or any law enforcement officer authorized to issue arrest warrants generally.
